UAE → Oman

Shipping from the UAE to Oman

One team on both sides: our Dubai company hands over to our Muscat company, so the paperwork matches the cargo.

Two customs sides, one shipment

Cargo from the UAE to Oman is declared twice: once when it leaves the UAE and once when it enters Oman. Mismatched paperwork between the two sides is a common reason for delay. Bright White Star Shipping LLC in Dubai and Bright White Star International LLC in Muscat are sister companies, so one team coordinates the shipment from pickup to delivery.

How the cargo can move

Sea freight

FCL and LCL sea freight between the UAE and Oman.

Air freight

Air freight for urgent or high-value cargo.

Road

Cross-border GCC trucking, including container haulage to and from ports.

Warehousing

Short and long-term storage, including free-zone warehousing on the Dubai side.

The right mode depends on the cargo, the deadline and the budget. Tell us what you are moving and we will recommend one.

What happens on each side

In the UAE: customs declarations are lodged with Dubai Customs through the Dubai Trade platform, and cargo may move through Jebel Ali or the free zones.

In Oman: the import declaration is lodged in Bayan, the goods are given an HS code, the duty is worked out and any permit is checked before the cargo arrives. Our customs clearing team then arranges release and delivery.

Documents for a UAE to Oman shipment

  • Commercial invoice with a clear description, quantity and value of every item.
  • Packing list that matches the invoice line by line.
  • Bill of lading (sea), air waybill (air) or the road transport document.
  • Certificate of origin, where your goods or route require one.
  • Permits for controlled goods.
  • Registration details of the importer and exporter, and contact details for the consignee.

Mistakes that hold up cargo between the UAE and Oman

  • An invoice and packing list that do not agree.
  • A vague goods description that cannot be classified.
  • A wrong or guessed HS code.
  • A missing permit for a controlled product, found only when the cargo arrives.
  • Export and import paperwork prepared separately by different parties, so the two do not match.

Checking the documents before the cargo moves is the simplest way to avoid all of these.

Questions we are asked

Can you handle both the UAE and the Oman side?

Yes. Our sister company in Dubai and our company in Muscat work together, so the export and import paperwork is prepared to match the shipment.

How can cargo travel from the UAE to Oman?

By sea (FCL and LCL), by air, or by road using cross-border GCC trucking. We recommend a mode based on the cargo, the deadline and the budget.

How long does it take?

It depends on the mode, the cargo and how ready the documents are. We give an estimate for your shipment once we have seen the cargo and the paperwork, rather than a one-size-fits-all number.

What documents do I need?

Usually a commercial invoice, a packing list, a bill of lading, air waybill or road transport document, and a certificate of origin where one applies. Controlled goods also need the relevant permit.

Who pays customs duty and how is it worked out?

Duty depends on the HS classification of the goods, their declared customs value and the rate that applies to that classification. Rates vary by product, so we confirm the duty for your goods before you ship.

Can cargo pass through Oman to another country?

Yes. We file re-export and transit declarations for cargo that passes through Oman on its way to a third destination.
